Friday Harbor
Recharge and reconnect in the peaceful, historic seaport of Friday Harbor. This bustling harbor is the county seat and the largest town in the San Juan Islands.
You can sit with a glass of wine and the rhythm of the island life, enjoy a farm-to-fork meal or browse through an art museum and history museum. Stroll through art galleries, clothing and gift shops, antique and collectible stores, marine supply stores and fully stocked grocery stores. From community benches, island visitors can watch boats and seaplanes come and go from this peaceful port of entry.
Dining experiences range from Pacific Northwest cuisine complete with waterview and fresh seafood, to quaint cafes, espresso shops or pubs. Locally produced ale, cider and spirits and samplings of wines from an island vineyard are also available right in the heart of town.
Venture even closer to nature by going whale and wildlife watching, sailing, or kayaking the harbor. Or take an island tour, saving time for some 9- or 18-hole golf or a few sets of tennis. Assorted lodging can be found in town and scattered throughout the nearby countryside. Friday Harbor also offers a small airport, sightseeing tour companies and car, bike and moped rentals for those traveling without a car.
