Who would’ve thought that Washington Wines would rank as some of the best premium wines in the country?  Walla Walla is home to numerous wineries and is a wonderful place to taste some of the state’s best varietals, or to simply escape into the scenic way of life.

“A town so nice, they named it twice” is the coined term that proud residents of Walla Walla use when talking about their town. Although it’s actually a Native American name for “Place of Many Waters,” Walla Walla is known by many Washington state residents as their very own wine country.

Located at the southeast region of Washington, Walla Walla’s climate is ideal for growing some of the best wine in the country and has become a popular spot for wine enthusiasts, although it was originally known for its famous sweet onions. Over the last two decades there has been an explosion in its wine industry, and visitors are taking advantage of some of the best Washington State vintages. 

The first full weekend of December is famous for the Holiday Barrel Tasting, where all new vintages of wine are “popped” for the first time. If the kids are in tow, there are plenty of activities to keep the whole family entertained.  

From the Balloon Stampede in May, to Warm Up In Walla Walla from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve, or the Farmers Market that runs the majority of the year, there’s plenty for couples and families to do in this wonderful town.
