Stevenson

Positioned at the core of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, Stevenson is a prime jumping-off point for exploring the southern Washington’s Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Mount St. Helens and other outdoor treasures.

Learn about the gorge at the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center, where interactive exhibits and collections of artifacts highlight the area’s natural history, first inhabitants and industrial growth. Impressive outdoor displays include a diesel train, logging equipment and cedar log carvings.

Stevenson’s Landing, a cruise ship pier on the Columbia River, is a great place to catch pretty sights of the water framed by forested mountains. The river, which serves as a natural border between Washington and Oregon, attracts many watersports enthusiasts, including whitewater rafters, kayakers, windsurfers and fishermen.

Six parks are within walking distance of the pier and can all be accessed via walking path. Bob’s Beach is a kite flying and windsurfing haven, while quiet Pebble Beach is an ideal place to launch a kayak. Stevenson restaurants deliver comforting fare in welcoming environments; try a brew and giant pretzel at Walking Man Brewery and Public House.
