Poulsbo

Established by Norwegian immigrants in 1882, Poulsbo is located on the Kitsap Peninsula fjord (a narrow inlet of sea between high cliffs). Today, Poulsbo maintains a Scandinavian ambiance and is known as “Little Norway on the Fjord.”

Historic downtown Poulsbo, peppered with storefronts featuring charming Norwegian flower motifs, offers a wide array of restaurants serving cuisines from around the world, including Germany, Italy and Norway. For a taste of Europe, stop at Sluys Poulsbo Bakery for tasty donuts, breads and other baked goods, or Tizley’s Europub for mouthwatering schnitzel, Bavarian pretzels and sausage.

Downtown Poulsbo also has several art galleries, notably the Front Street Gallery, and hosts a Second Saturday Art Walk. Explore the area by kayak; walk along the waterfront on Liberty Bay or get to know the animals of Puget Sound, including sea urchins, sea cucumbers and shrimp, at the Poulsbo Marine Science Center.
