Ruby Beach, located about 25 miles from Forks on the southwest coast of the Olympic Peninsula, gained its namesake from the ruby-like crystals that wash up onto the beach.
Ruby Beach and nearby Kalaloch Beach are havens for beachcombers, photographers and wildlife watchers. Large nesting colonies of birds, including Western gulls, tufted puffins and bald eagles, seek refuge on the beaches’ rocky outposts. Be sure to check the tides before hiking Ruby Beach; visitors have reported spotting marine life like colorful starfish in tide pools during low tide.
Camp at Kalaloch Beach's 175-site campground; or book a stay right on the beach in one of Kalaloch Lodge's (about 6 miles from Ruby Beach) cozy rooms and cabins.
